Planning for a Wedding Band and Corporate Band

At some point in most of your lives, a wedding has played some role that caused joy, happiness, and an all around great time. It provided moments that will be cherished for the rest of your life. Perhaps, you were one of the lucky ones who experienced the love at first sight syndrome and met your true love while dancing. There are so many wonderful times to be had at wedding receptions. Whether it was from the food, the band or DJ, or maybe it was from watching everyone else having an incredible time.

One aspect of the reception is most definitely the music. It would be wonderful to be able to afford a live wedding band. This is not as common as some may believe due to cost restrictions, budgets, and bride and grooms paying their own way. At any rate, having an opportunity to hear bands in person can be some of the best times.

Regardless of the situation surrounding your wedding reception plans, the point is obviously the same; have a fantastic time for all to remember and make their personal memories. To accomplish this, some feel that they must spend incredible amounts of money. Yes, some have the discretionary funds to pull this off, but that does not mean that it is a priority for a couple to consider. When the wedding plans are made and paid for by the parents, it could mean that the sky is the limit; congratulations if this describes your situation.

For the more conservative and careful, work from the point of what the highlights of the wedding need to be for that WOW affect. Given time to think about it, you will probably agree that it would involve the wedding band of your choice. Finding what will suit your desires and budget is where the work comes into play.

One of the best and most affordable ways to really get what you want out of a live band is to use Internet resources as a means for locating opportunities to listen to bands play live. What better way to make a decision than by hearing each band play live. Besides, this is also a way to have a great time in the process. Band members will probably welcome the chance to audition for you, so to speak, and have you come to listen to them in person.

Once you have located a wedding band, the fun really begins. You can relax and start to enjoy the rest of the planning for your most important day of your life. Friends, family, and all of your acquaintances will be ecstatic for you and anticipate some wonderful times ahead, not to mention the excitement and energy that will surely abound.

Now that the wedding is over and life begins anew for you and your newly acquired spouse, it is time to get back to reality and your job. Taking the experience you just had with a wedding, you might want to consider a similar opportunity for where you work. No, do not plan all of your co-worker’s weddings. Think about an office party that will include a corporate band to liven up the morale.

One word of caution, however, is to get clearance from your supervisor, boss, manager, etc., you get the point. Ask your friends and co-workers what they think about the idea and try to gain support from as many of them as possible. This will help your odds of actually obtaining permission for putting on an office party. If the answer at first is no, do not give up, take this as a challenge and keep at it. What do you have to lose?

Once you gain permission, now the fun begins all over again. An exception to the way you did things last time is that this go around there can be a lot more join you in the hunt. It would not necessarily be the best option to hire the same band that performed at your wedding. There are plenty of bands out there and locating a corporate band who is used to giving live performances for office parties and such may be a better option.

The greatest part about this is that you plan about three or four months in advance. This provides ample time to locate and listen to musicians then decide who will get the honor of playing for your co-workers. Consider this an honor; not many people would take the initiative to provide such an opportunity that involves friends from work getting together to PARTY!

A word of caution, try not to have just one group go with you to listen to the band. Spread the wealth, so to speak, and invite several people to get together and check out the bands at different locations on the same night. Any musical group these days will have samples of their music that can be found online. Get back with everyone one night early in the week and sit around the computer to listen and rate each corporate band.

One method is to establish a short list of criteria for what everyone wants in a band. Do they play music that everyone can enjoy? Is there a good selection and diversity to the music? Does the appearance of the band meet the general standards of those in attendance? (Do not invite a heavy metal band that barely wears clothes to a family oriented office party.) Have a great time with the whole experience and just let your hair down.

As a matter of preparation, keep in mind to have a decoration committee, a group in charge of the food and drinks, and by all means, make sure to get the word out to everyone. One of the worst feelings could be when you realize that someone or some people did not know anything about the party. It may very well turn the entire experience into a shambles and cause some animosity to develop within the work environment.

Now, back to the live music. After finding that special group of musicians, there will be a matter of cost associated with hiring the band. Sometimes, when there are corporate parties, a fund has been established through the HR department or employee activities committee for the purpose of building morale and showing recognition for exemplary work. Check into this if you are not familiar with such a fund’s existence.

Knowing what the band will cost is crucial. This will set the boundaries by which you are going to be constrained by when planning to have the best live band at your office or corporate party. It may be necessary to establish a donation plan that provides the opportunity for everyone to contribute a small amount that will pay for the band. You may be surprised at just how inexpensive it is to host a band for an evening.

Costs are typically around $700 per night for a decent performance band. One of the keys to this has to do with the number of band members. This is not to say that it is the case every time. However, it can play a small role in the total cost. After determining that the money is in place, it is time to celebrate your success in planning and go have a great time dancing the night away!
